Further research for project #2

Mark Hewitt

I did some further research on the forms created by Mark Hewitt and Chris Gustin. Both are high fire potters – so natural I was so drawn to the atmosphere developed on the surface of these pots

In terms of form, Mark Hewitt creates very heavy sitting pots. They have large bellies that all just seem to hold so much of whatever is supposed to be inside them, which I love for his mugs and teapots. I’m thinking I want to be a little more moderate with the bowls project…

… which brings me to Chris Gustin. I’ve always loves his sculptural forms but now I know I love his pots as well. I believe his forms are very easily able to mold to the hand I enjoy the dimples he puts in them, and they aren’t too heavy yet can still hold a lot of soup!
